
How It Started
From making a treacherous journey across the Pacific Ocean as a Vietnam refugee in 1980 to building Farmers Fresh which now produces 40 million pounds of mushrooms annually, Tan Truong's staunch work ethic along with his value and respect for others has been a pillar for his success.
Starting off as the founder, president and CEO of Abbotsford, BC based Ross Land Mushroom Farm, Tan, with his wife Hue Huynh and their dedicated team built out the main location which now includes four mushroom production barns, a composting facility and warehouse. They also supply compost for other mushroom growers.
Tim Truong has joined the family business and is now the president. He works with everyone including his Dad to continue building upon on this model of hard work, innovation and respect and value of the team members around them. The innovating continues, with new packaging options to be more environmentally friendly, machines that make re-sealable packaging, a $35 million expansion and continual commitment to the highest safety standards.
From a small local producer to one of the largest mushroom producers in the Pacific Northwest and Western Canada, Farmers Fresh is honoured to be celebrating over 25 years and is looking forward to the future.

Throughout our history we have always been looking to innovate and improve. From enhancing composting methods to increasing operational efficiency where 7 to 8 pounds of mushrooms can be grown in one square foot compared to 3 or 4 pounds previously, we are always looking to improve our systems, methods and materials for the betterment of our products, customers and the environment.
